  1. Subject: thanks

Message: Thanks for bringing this issue into the mainstream. The last
thing Canada needs is a movement like they have in the US. The “wedge”
strategy has been ongoing in the US for many years and it has done
alot of damage to various social institutions, the development of
science and the education of children. Hopefully this will be a wake
up call for people of reason accross Canada. Thank you!

  2. I lived in San Diego from 1978 until 1984. The latter years corresponded to the appearance of HIV/AIDS. I remember well the actions of the religious right in the US; largely at the time; under the umbrella of the late Jerry Falwell’s Moral Majority. I’d like to add to Kent Roberts comments of thanks from June of 2010. His mention of “damage” done to various social institutions by the conservative Christians across the US, reminded me of the early years of the AIDS epidemic. The damage was utterly abhorrent. They fiercely & successfully opposed the use of any public funds for HIV research. I am a man of science & assure you that this is thoroughly documented. The subsequent delay in developing effective treatment options denied thousands even a fighting chance at survival. I know.Through the years, I have buried fifty-seven good friends. Perhaps we are finally seeing some progress on this continent, at least. Recently; one of the most universally respected civil rights organizations on the planet; the Southern Poverty Law Center in the US; listed the badly misnamed Family Research Council, as a hate group. And here at home, the CSRC gave Chuck McVety a long overdue rebuke. I’ve read Marci Macdonald’s book, & she’s right on.
