100 Huntley Street/Crossroads, alleged ponzi scheme timeline

While I’m not quite sure how Crossroads Christian Communications falls under ‘religious right’ other than a few forays into politics, I’ve posted the information regarding the company taking a significant economic hit because of  affinity fraud.

There have been a lot of comments defending 100 Huntley Street.  I’m not saying over the years the show and it’s staff have not been effective in their medium. The facts, few as they  are being presented as to what has occured around Gordon Driver/Axcess and the community of staff, donors and views of Crossroads Christian Communications who have been affected. 100+ people, (about 15 in the US, the rest Canadians) invested.

  1. David Mainse came on air on the Huntley St. program via telephone approx. a couple of weeks ago and talked about this, but his comments were vague. I think that as long as there exists the remotest possibility of them being charged with something, they would have been advised not to admit anything on air that might be used against them in court, just in case. But never mind, the Holy Spirit brings light, and irrespective of legalities or illegalities there is a conflict of interest where He is concerned. I’m very sorry for what this family is having to go through and can only pray they will have ears to hear what the Lord is saying through this, to learn the lessons He wants them and the rest of us to learn, which is not about how to avoid being scammed, but about not trying to serve both God and mammon. This flagship ministry is being used by God to highlight the state of the church as a whole in this country – Huntley St. are not the only ones…

  2. Oh C’MON the Mainse’s are Innocent?

A one time investment of $1000 earning 5% per week would be worth $12040.77 in one year! And now some of these “investors” are potentially ruined and losing their homes?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Some put up their home??? So, basically 100 investors lost 14.9 Million dollars. An average of $149,000 per investor, The Mainse’s want everyone to feel bad for the “innocent” boys (who were also earning a 5% finders fee!). Do the math! A $149,000 investment has an expected return of $1,794,074.70 per annum!

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? Nobody, and I mean NOOOBOOOODY earns these kinds of returns! Period.

The Mainse’s DECEIVED Themselves! THIS is NOBODY’S FAULT but their OWN! They were blinded by their own enormous greed!

And as for the MAINSE’s, what a greedy bunch. Fleecing old people to tithe what little they have “to do God’s work” while they go out and live the high life in exclusive neighbourhoods in million dollar homes!

They all deserve to get burned for this! How Christian!!

It’s time this nepotistic ministry crashed to the ground, and the CRTC/FCC needs to start warning viewers for “fleecing” when a “Christian” program is aired! Much like the “L” and “V” used on some programs for violence and language! I have the perfect symbol! A dollar sign falling out an upside down purse of an elderly woman!

  3. in regards to my last comment. 5% per week is 1204% APR!

  4. Isn’t it funny that Papa Mainse is back on the air? I think he’s afraid that the nepotistic ambilical cord could finally be cut, and he is desparately holding on to the Mainse Financial Empire! If the Mainse’s boys don’t kill CTS, David’s bizarre, and dated behaviour will

  5. What is worse than people being fleeced of their money, is that in an electronic age there seems to be no voice to preach the pure gospel on the air waves. First the Miracle Channel and now this – when will the church wake up and realize something is very wrong in the house of God when the ‘shepherds’ have no power over sin. And if this is the state of the shepherds, what must be the state of the flock? In a word, worldliness. The gospel is a covenant with two participants, it’s not just a free ticket to heaven paid for by Jesus (milk), there is a cost involved on our part too (meat) – we must carry our cross, crucify our flesh, work out our salvation with fear and trembling, fill up that which is behind of the sufferings of Christ, take up our cross and follow Jesus, enduring hardship like a soldier….isn’t the kingdom of God likened to a treasure buried in a field and when the man found it, he SOLD EVERYTHING HE HAD to buy that field? Where is the fear of the Lord in the church today? We’ve been fed a milk-toast message, sold a bill of goods, swampland in Florida. Salvation will cost us the same as it cost our Saviour – EVERYTHING!! Or it is not salvation – we are to be saved from our sins, does anybody remember that? “He who has suffered in his body is done with sin”? Anybody out there who can say amen? No ministry will ever get another penny of my money unless I hear them preaching the whole gospel, not just the easy part.

  6. I believe the Lord Jesus Christ said it all 2 thousand years ago to a wayward woman who lost her way

John 4:16 ” GO CALL THY HUSBAND AND COME HITHER”

and the church answered him verse 17.

  7. Oh boy, yes, this is disappointing to hear, even though I do think the Mainse brothers did not deliberately try to defraud anyone, I think it is more a matter of them trying to make some money easily. And THAT is what is disappointing, that they didn’t think about it more thoroughly beforehand. As Christian leaders on t.v. (especially on t.v.!) they have to be above appearances of wrongdoing,in addition to not doing wrong in itself! Their father must be devastated by this latest turn of events, as he was always above reproach, both appearance-wise and in reality. Perhaps he will have to soldier on with the old guard after all!

  8. PS. In addition…from what I have seen over the years, the father Mainse and his wife, now jolted out of retirement, have ALWAYS lived modestly and not just in appearances! I commend them both for that, and I feel even more admiration for the both of them than ever!

  9. Subject: on the 100 huntley st and benny hinn comment

Message: did anyone ever see the movie facing the Giants, remember
when the guy was training out on the field and in pain wanting to
give up having such a hard time, face practically in the
ground….wow how many of us would be left right there to fall and
give up. The pathetic judgmental church would just simply pass by,
when one of us is struggling we should be there for each other saying
” get up, I’m not leaving you here, I love you, come on you can do
this , Jesus loves you no matter what”!! so sad how many people just
simply see someone down and pass on by. we need to shut our mouths
and PRAY for each other!! instead of judging when we have no possible
way of knowing each others heart.

  10. I have not been watching 100 Huntley Street like I used to but enough to have noticed something is wrong. Where is Ron? What has happened? I have so much to deal with in my own life, I am losing touch with the really important relationships that keep me going. Huntley Street, Its a New Day, Joyce Meyers everymorning from 7 AM to 10 AM have been my lifeline for years now.

Please don’t give up 100 Huntely Street. I have been fighting battles for 15 years now – and I am glad I never gave up. For the first time since 1992, my health issues have also been addressed and I have survived 8 surgeries and what I have to do in order to overcome my many physical problems often boggles my mind. BUT I am still here. I am 73 years of age now and still not retired. My financial issues are clearing up and I feel like I can finally start titheing to the Ministries that were so lifegiving to me.

I am calling this my titheing because I am not a member of any
church at this time. Please believe me, it isn’t that I haven’t tried. Those of you who have kept me going named above, and a couple more on TV – kept my life going with God and my Lord Jesus Christ during times I can only describe as life taking events.

I have deep concerns over four pastors in my area who are playing with the stock markets and investments. Two pastors who are friends – one has already ended up in terrible health and I honestly believe this is a direct link to get rich quick schemes he got into. The key thing you said Ron was to the affect you did not consult with God and that you have now understood the part you played and what you have to do to change things to be ready for a new anointing. Another pastor friend of mine is now suffering for the same reasons. These two men don’t have strong family ties so they have had to handle their burdens without the kind of support you and your family have.

Please don’t give up. I have never felt the Maines family has been living high on the hog or view their lives in a worldly way. Your own mother and father gave you the best upbringing one could have. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and I believe with all my heart, this thing will be a lesson for your whole family and the Ministry of 100 Huntley Street. You are in my prayers and my tears when I learned what was really going on. Let God guide you well – and don’t ever condemn yourself. I know from my own experience condemnation is straight from hell.
It was my shame and feelings I had that I had failed that gave me my ill health. The battle that raged against myself and my three sons and one daughter, started in 1992- and it is only now, I can see victory in our family and only a beginning of healing has entered into the lives of my family. Forgive yourself Ron – just as God forgives you. Do not allow shame and guilt to take over your life.
No matter what the accuser orchestrates against you and your family and ministry, you claim God’s promises. Amen.

  11. Christian or not, anybody expecting these types of returns is foolish or plain greedy. Remember these guys also have business training, so the idea of a ponzi scheme etc should not have been a surprise.
They wanted a quick buck, even if used for a good purpose. Their status and visibility alone encourged others to get involved, whether they actively promoted it or not.
Once agin, a good work (I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt)is disgraced by greed and stupidity

  12. I have known a insider from 100 huntley st. for over 30 yrs. and this evil, false church is corrupt to the core,$$$=666. Deception, dont be such blind sheep following the dressed up wolves. Christ warned us about these ones who would have an outwardly appearance of Godliness and carrying a begging purse with them. WAKE UP sleeping church, dont fall away!!!

  13. Tithe to the homeless and hungry, do not give a cent to any church, give it to the hungry, the starving and naked in our own back yards. No man should be paid for talking about Jesus, Our Lord is not a product for sale. Every man must work to eat and be their brothers keeper, those who need help, not these modern day pharisees. Watch and pray..

  14. I don’t know the details of this story. But viewing the program mid summer,i have been blessed and ministered to.The love can’t be missed amongst the staff, which in return comes to us the viewer.THAT’s the Holy Spirit ministering! My prayer, that GOD’s name be honored and Glorified even at this difficult time for this ministry.

  16. I worked for Crossroads for several impossible years. No one is untouched in that organization. The hidden pedophilia sex scandals of insiders to the 2 brothers now in charge. Ask how they buried a minister’s daliances by shipping him out of the country. Ask about the Circle Square Ranch deaths because people looking after children weren’t properly trained. Ask about a two year period where they insisted you show proof you needed you paycheque if you worked there…

They live in a world of entitlement that sucks money out of those who can least afford it and for what? Charity? No! It goes to quell huge financial debt and out of control egos. They pray on their knees on Sunday and prey on their neighbours the other six days of the week.

    Posted by Vertex | November 1, 2009, 6:10 pm
  17. Hey Vertex:

The two brothers aren’t in charge anymore – Reynold Mainse left a year and a half ago, however the Crossroads website does not reflect that.

As for debt, I have no information that is a current problem.

Can you give documentation on deaths at the ranches? Did media cover this?

Employee sexual misconduct would not be a surprise, given the previous size of the organization. Do you have details? If you care to, email privately.
